Masters League starts tonight!

„The situation is good,“ says the champ Sigurður Sigurðarson, with a smile on his face and with great confidence when Eiðfaxi asked him about his selection of horses and expectations on the Masters League in horse sports, which startst tonight.

Sigurður is a team manager for Lýsi and also a winner of last Masters League, both in the individual- and team competition. He will appear with last year´s winner, Loki frá Selfossi and will attempt defending his title. „Of course I will give it a try, there is nothing else on the agenda. But there are many things that have to work out, we are dealing with live animals, like everyone knows. I will do my best and hope that I will have some luck on my side.“

Eyjólfur Þorsteinsson is also a member of the Lýsi and he will present the horse Klerkur frá Bjarnanesi who is an experienced competition horse with great leg movements. The third Lýsi team member is the great rider Sigurbjörn Bárðarson, but at this moment it is not clear which horse he will present. „I have two horses which I have to choose from,“ Sigurbjörn says and a swish can be heard in the phone, as of course, he is out riding whent Eiðfaxi got a hold of him on the phone. „Either I will be presenting Penni frá Glæsibæ, or the bay horse Hlekkur frá Þingnesi, and his owner is Eyjólfur.“

Most of the time, the riders Sigurður and Sigurbjörn have been winners of the Masters League and clearly there is a fierce competition between the two of them, even though they are in the same team. „Yes, of course the competition between the two of us is hard and I will come to the competition full of determination. Many questions have been asked on the selection of horses, many contenders are inquiring about the horses of the contenders. It is a good thing, knowing that one is making other contenders anxious,it means that I am on the right track,“ Sigurbjörn says laughing.

The young and promising rider Erla Katrín Jónsdóttir will be a substitute rider for the team instead of Sylvía Sigurbjörnsdóttir who has moved to the team of Ganghestar/Málning.

„I was supposed to be a substitute rider in the Lýsi team but wanted to have an opportunity to have a go at the competition track. Siggi Matt and Edda Rún offered me a place in their team – Málning/Ganghestar – which I accepted, as I have good horses which I look forward to present, “ Sylvía says smiling.

Sylvía will be bringing the horse Þórir frá Hólum into the four gaits, which is the first competition event. „He is in great shape, considering he has just recently be taken into the stable. At least he was very perky at the training, and we will be doing our best.“

It was Edda Rún who stepped down so that Sylvía could have a place on the team. „We are very positive about this“ says Edda Rún, lively as usual. „My selection of horses is strong horses for five gaits and the pace events, but Sylvía´s selection of horses have more width. Therefore I decided to step aside, because Sylvia will strengthen out team, which makes a great difference.“

Sigurður Matthíasson (Siggi Matt) will probably be bringing Kall frá Dalvík into the four gaits and Sara Ástþórsdóttir will likely be bringing the mare Sóllilja frá Álfhólum.“Sóllilja is a first prize mare with a score of 9.0 for tölt, spirit and general presence and 9.5 for slow canter. She is not a fully formed competition mare, but very talented and growing. Then there is the question of the shape of the day. This is a jolly and lively mare, which I enjoy very much to train,“ Sara says and runs off to another ride. It is very likely that Sara will be bringing Díva frá Álfhólum into the tölt competition of the Masters League.

There will be a live broadcast from the Masters League here at the Eiðfaxi web at 19:00 hrs Icelandic time.

Admission to the live broadcast costs Ikr 499.-

There are two choices to make the payment:

Pay with a credit card: Click on the word „here“ in the text. „it is also possible to pay with a credit card by clicking here.“ A registry image will open which needs to be filled out and then you click on PAY and then a receipt will appear, and a path which you need to click on and then you have reached the direct broadcast from the Masters League.
Pay through a text message (for the customers of the Icelandic firms: Síminn, Vodafone og NOVA ): Send the text to 1900 with the word hestur „horse“. The admission code will be sent to you right away and you will enter it into the box on the screen and then you wil have access to the direct broadcast of the Masters League. With the code you have access for one computer to the broadcast. Each text message costs Ikr 499.-
