Awaiting the first offspring from Korgur – interview

Korgur frá Ingólfshvoli is the star of last weekends breeding assessment. He received an extremely even and good assessment, with a total score of 8.41…..

He received a score of 8.39 for conformation and 8.42 for talent. For tölt, trot, canter, slow tölt, sprit and temperament, hooves and walk he received a score of 9.0 and for general impression and slow canter he received a score of 9.5. Korgur er out of Korga frá Ingólfshvoli and Leiknir frá Vakurstöðum.

Björg Ólafsdóttir, Örn Karlsson and their sons are the breeders of Korgur. They have been breeding horses under the name of Ingólfshvolur horse farm for the past 20 years. “Their horse breeding is based on the breeding which Karl Benediktsson, father of Örn and his family, held at the farm Gerðar. Korgur´s mother lineage is from the Gerðar stock, as his mother is out of two offsprings from Ófeigur frá Flugumýri”, Björg says.
So far no offspring from Korgur have been born, but according to Björg, owners from a total of 17 pregnant mares are waiting for their offspring with anticipation. “There is a lot of excitement in the air and the owners of the mares are calling each other in order to exchange information and the mares are being monitored day and night” Björg says adding that four foals from Korgur are expected within her family.
Korgur will be presented at Landsmót, after which he will be situated in Sandhólaferja.
