Switzerland and Austria among the leading buyers

Horse export has been quite good during the last few months of this year. Presently, at the end of November a total of 1225 horses have left their native soil towards new homelands in Europe and America. Germans are, as they have been for the past few years, by far the leading buyers of Icelandic horses, and a total of 485 horses have been transported to Germany so far this year. A total of 146 horses have been transported to Sweden.

The third largest buyers, for the second year in a row, are the Swiss buyers – and a total of 130 horses have been transported there. It is also an interesting novelty that the Austrian market has clearly grown because never before have so many horses been transported there in one year – a total of 110 horses have been transported so far.
