Eiðfaxi double Christmas edition

The double Christmas edition of Eiðfaxi is now being printed and should reach subscribers next week. The magazine is chock full of informative and entertaining material.

Interesting:
The focus is on spirit and general impression but these qualities can include some complications. Specialists and professionals express themselves on evaluations on these qualities.

About 100 years ago the philosopher Ludwik Wittgenstein went on a riding trip around Iceland along with his partner David Pinsent.  This journey became quite enlightening for both of them. Then just about one century later, this journey was repeated and it was Ray Monk who came along and he is one of the most prominent scholars about the philosopher. The travelogue is told.

The name of the horse breeding facility Sunnaholt in the state of Bavaria in Germany has often been discussed amongst horse people for the past year. Steffen and Angelika Langaard open their doors and introduce the operation within Sunnaholt.

Breeding:
This year the grand breeding work of Bergur Jónsson and Olil Amble, at Syðri-Gegnishólum received the title Breeding farm of the year. In the magazine there are discussions about them along with twelve other breeding farms which were honored now towards the end of this year. 

A total of nine mares received honor winning prizes for offspring this year. In the magazine, there are discussions about these mares and their offspring.

Enlightenment:
There was a breakthrough on the so called pace gene which has shed a better light on breeding of Icelandic horses. The research group which organized this finding, write an article which is in the magazine.

Results from a research which was done on silver colored horses have shown that there are strong connection genetically between the genetical purity within silver colored horses and heredity of Multiple Congenital Ocular Anomalies – MCOA.  In the magazine there is an article written by a group of geneticists where they explain in a short article about the results of the research which has been done by them.
