Construction work at Krókur

related activities. A new riding arena, 20x60m in size has been built as well as a horse stable which is being installed in the building which earlier was used as a riding arena, the floor area in this place is 16x40m in size. It is Reynir Örn Pálmason who is in charge of this construction work and will be the administrator and main horse trainer at the farm.

Eiðfaxi made a visit to Krókur in order to check on the project. The final steps are being worked on in order to prepare to take the horses inside the stables between Christmas and New Year.

When we drove into the farmyard, there was a lot of action around. Tradesmen installing furnishings and staff of the ranch were busy getting things ready.  Evidently, there is great ambition in this project; everything is organized in the best manner possible. The furnishings are made by the workshop “Viðgerðir og þjónusta” in Selfoss and their workmen are very experienced when it comes to this type of work.
In spite of the size and magnitude of the stables, they have managed to work it out to be a very friendly atmosphere for the horses, all the sidings are wood and the furnishings are made with oak.

Reynir Örn walked around the area with the reporter, explaining the whole setup. „This is where we plan to keep the horses and train those horses which will be bred here at Krókur, but this place also gives us the opportunity to sell our services to horse people and horse breeders, both as far as horse training concerns as well as hosting workshops. For example the idea is to utilize some space here as sleeping accommodation for people at seminars and to be able to have the service as good as possible. Possibly there will be some space in the stables for professionals to rent space and to be able to use the other accommodations here which is being built up“ Reynir said.
Eiðfaxi will return to Krókur when the facilities are in full action.
