Valuable assistance

Members in the horse club Hörður are assisting the members who lost their stables in the fire last week, in a grand manner…

Last weekend a group of people made a great effort in order to tear down the ruins and clean up the area, so that the stables can be rebuilt.

Eiðfaxi met Sveinn Ingi Grímsson, who is the owner of half of the unit which burnt down in the fire.

The first question is what the situation with the insurance matters?
”The value of the stables here is so low that it is way beyond the real value of the houses. People are not aware enough to have the houses reevaluated even though they are making great improvements. I had just renovated my entire stable, I put plastic boards in all the partitions and sidings and last summer I furnished a coffee room up in the loft, all with wooded panels as well as a new heating keg“.

Do you suppose that many have some kind of security alarm systems in their stables?
”No, I do not think so. But I suppose that many people are thinking about those things now. One does not get a good night’s sleep without that, I think“.

At this time your fellow club members in Hörður are going to assist you with the rebuilding of the stables. In which manner will this be done?
”This was an invaluable the assistance coming these people and there is more to come. There is a group of volunteers working for us and then there are donations being collected for us into a bank account. This is priceless, and we are very thankful.

Your horses were saved. Were they unharmed?
Yes, so it seems. The vet examined them and two of the horses were given medication, but now all of them seem to be well and healthy.

Eiðfaxi will be keeping an eye on the progress of these matters in Mosfellsbær.
