Each horseman, registered into a horse club owns about 7.2 horses according to FEIF statistics.

Statistics on Icelandic equitation

FEIF International organization has published statistics which sheds a light on the magnitude of equitation within the Icelandic horse world.

Presently, the FEIF member countries are a total of 18 and count a total of 58.962 registered members in the Icelandic horse member countries.

Of those countries it is Germany who has the highest number of members, 24.075 and then it is Iceland with 11.183 members and Denmark with 5.755 members. Also a total of 250.424 Icelandic horses are registered around the world, with a total of 80.000 in Iceland, 65.000 in Germany, about 32.515 in Denmark and 30.524 in Sweden.

When looking further into these figures, one can see that for each Icelander registered into a horse club owns 7.2 horses here in Iceland. In Germany this figure is 2.7 horses per each member and in Denmark there are 4,3 horses per member and 5 horses per member in Sweden.
