Jóhann and his new tolt horse

The fivefold world champion winner Jóhann R. Skúlason was elected as rider of the year at the Horsepeoples Harvest Festival earlier this month….

Eiðfaxi had a chat with Jóhann about tolt training, role models from Skagafjordur and the persistence which has brought him a victorious career. There will be an interview with Johann in Eidfaxi 8th Christmas edition which will be released in December next.

In this interview Johann discusses, among other things that at this time he is training a new and fantastic tolt horse, which will possibly be his competition horse at the World Championship in Berlin, 2013. „I am training a 5 year old horse, Tígull frá Kleiva, and the plan is to start competing with him next year. I will then be able to determine how this develops and whether he measures up to my expectations“Johann says. He brought Tígull to a breeding assessment at the World Championship last summer and he won Feykir frá Háholti with a fraction in the class of 5 year old stallions, they both received a final score of 8.38.

Tígull is a beautiful horse; his tolt is with high and wide movements as can be seen on the attached video clip.
