Fantastic success by Auðsholtshjáleiga

The family at Auðsholtshjáleiga were honored as the horse breeders of the year 2011 at the Horse breeding 2011 conference which was sponsored by the Council of Horse breeding and was held last Saturday….

This year, the farm Auðsholtshjáleiga has proven the quality of their horse breeding by receiving both the Sleipnir torphy as well as the Gletta tropy for their honor winning horses and their offspring.

The farm received the Sleipnr tropy last summer for their stallion Gári frá Auðsholtshjáleigu. Gári‘s achievement is considerable and for breeding evaluation he received 128 points. Gári is only 13 years old and his first offspring were born in 2003. His potentential to be awarded for honor winning prize was extremely strong and profound. Those horse next horse in line in points and for honor prize winning at Vindheimamelar had 121 points.

Also, three of the eight mares who were awarded as honor prize winners this year, came from their farm also. The top prize winner was Gígja frá Auðsholtshjáleigu with 127 points for breeding evaluation, second in line was Trú frá Auðsholtshjáleigu with 126 points and third in line is Vordís frá Auðsholtshjáleigu with 124 points.

Still, these are not the only fantastic achievements by the horses from Auðsholtshjáleiga this year. A total of 22 horses coming from Auðsholtshjáleiga were presented for breeding evaluation this year and twelve of them received a score of 8.00 or higher as a total score. Eight of them were presented at Landsmót and it was Hrafnar frá Auðsholtshjáleigu who was in 5th place in the class of 4 year old stallions and Arnoddur frá Auðsholtshjáleigu who was in 2nd place in the class of 6 year old stallions. Gígjar frá Auðsholtshjáleigu, the full blooded brother of Gíga also received 1st price for offspring at the Landsmót. Also, Arnoddur frá Auðsholtshjáleigu went to Austria and competed in the class of 6 year old stallions at the horse breeding show of the World Championship, which he won with honors. This was the third WC tournament where a stallion from this farm is in a winning place.
