Resolution from the Association of Trainers (FT) on the infection issue

The FT annual meeting was held at Kænan in Hafnarfjörður on December 3rd last and the Association would like to challenge their members and all horse people to respect to the fullest all regulations regarding defense matters concerning the infection. Also, the members of the meeting would like to address the authorities and ask them to put further emphasis on defense regulations regarding the infection, which would be further flow of information, as well as introduction and supervision at airports and harbors. Violations regarding this would be taken very seriously and according to the law.

Account of the meeting:
The good health of the Icelandic horse stock is of great importance and it should be protected at all cost.
The contagious infection disease which has been making horses here in Iceland sick this year and therefore paralyzing the horse industry, was a very costly experience which should not repeat itself.

It is vital to make regulations in the defense against infection much stricter and gather information on all matters regarding matters of this kind in other places, for example in New Zealand, where there is great importance put on protection of their livestock.
