Horse breeding farms at WC2013 in Berlin

Presentation of horse breeding farms will be one of the large attractions at WC 2013 in Berlin. Around six to eight horse breeding farms will have the opportunity to present groups of breeding horses in a prime time in the program between 18.30 hours and 20.00 on Friday, August 9th.

Clearly, the world championships of the Icelandic horse in central Europe is evolving fast towards the image of the tournament of horse people, Landsmót in Iceland. For a long time these tournaments were (in the beginning European tournament) exclusively horse sports tournaments in the class of adults with a similar program as Íslandsmót for adults here in Iceland. Later on came private presentations of breeding horses and have now become a large part within the WC tournaments. So now the ice has been broken for presentations of breeding farms.
Although they are not a total novelty at Icelandic horse tournaments abroad and lately there were horses breeding farms which presented groups of horses at the WorldTölt tournament in Odense in Denmark, which was held in February. One Icelandic horse breeding farm participated, and this was Blesastaðir 1a, and quite a few outstanding horses from this farm are not on the mainland. Perhaps more Icelandic horse breeding farms have the possibility of participating at the WC2013 tournament and the following farms should be mentioned: Auðsholtshjáleiga, Fet and Efri-Rauðalækur, and all of those have sold many excellent horses abroad.

Rules about participation have been published at the FEIF website. For the most part they resemble Landsmót here in Iceland. Six to eight horses will be in each group but the time each farm has is slightly roomier, about ten to fifteen minutes. There is no mention about special results or the choice of the best farm. Requirements are made on results in breeding horse shows and or horse sports tournaments which are considered WorldRanking. There is no registration fee (was 100 thousand at Landsmót 2012) but owners have to pay for shelter and hay. The horse farms and single horses will be introduced at the tournaments´ program.
