Illegal painkillers given to Sjarmi

It has been manifested that Sjarmi frá Skriðuklaustri was given illegal painkillers at the Mid European masters’ league competition in Germany last summer. The result from the so called B test were opened today in the presence of the respected parties, but the lawyer working on behalf of the Austrian rider Petra Reiter-Tropper, managed to have this case dismissed after the first stage due to procedural error in the A test sample.

It was the painkiller medication called mefenamin-acid which was found in a sample taken from Sjarmi at the Mid European masters league. Petra Reiter-Tropper competed for her country at the WC in 2011. The German Icelandic horse association, IPZV, who handled the case after FEIF had lost jurisdiction over it after the rejection, will now retake this case again. The rider, Petra Reiter-Tropper could be facing up to a two year ban from competitions.
