The year 2012 will be a year of good and harmonious riding

FEIF intends to dedicate the competition year 2010 as a year of good and harmonious riding. This is among other issues which was decided upon at the committee meeting of the international association which was held in Holland during October 28-30 last….

Riders will be urged to refine their equitation and the judges will be encourated to use the extra space they have in the judicial scale to raise scores and lower them depending how the rider performs when presenting the horse.

„We saw that the judges at the WC had started taking this into consideration,  where good horsemanship was deservedly rewarded. It has in fact been in the pipes for a long time to reward for refined equitation such as correct changing of gaits, correct speed and exemplary interplay between rider and horse, by giving them a higher score.  At the next competition period there will be considerable emphasis  for riders to show this kind of meticulousness. The judges will have space to lower scores for rough horsemanship and to reward for a good and well implemented and sportsmanlike presentation“ says Sigurður Sæmundsson, the representative of Iceland in the FEIF sports committee.

He says that the Icelandic rider could be in a leading role in this respect. „We should rejoice this change. We have great horses and exclusive riders.  There is no reason to think that we should not be in a leading role in this orientation“ he says and already steps have been made in the direction to this change by reconstucting the judicial system and introducing it to the judges.
