Which riders will be awarded riders of the year?

Horse peoples Harvest Festival is fast approaching and the ladies undoubtedly started planning a suitable dress. The Harvest Festival will be hosted at Broadway next Saturday. It is customary to award chosen horse people awards for the achievements of the year and normally this event is quite exciting and to watch which are awarded riders of the yar. Eiðfaxi contacted two respected horse breeders in order to ponder over this year’s acknowledges.

Kristinn Guðnason, horse breeder at Árbæjarhjáleiga

Sports rider: I am having a hard time with the choice in this class. I think that the Íslandsmót tournament has a greater outweighs the Scandinavian tournament and therefore I think that Jakob or Árni Björn will be chosen. Although I think the likelihood for Jakob to be awarded is greater as he was the winner in two events at the Íslandsmót.

Gæðinga rider: I think it is Sigurður Sigurðarson who will be awarded in this class. He did a great job at the Landsmót where he won the A-class and was in third place in B-class. Also, at the late summers tournament here at Hella he was riding Blæja frá Lýtingsstöðum and received the highest score which has been given in B-class this year. It was great to watch Einar Öder winning the B-class and he did a great job but Siggi has been competing at more tournaments. And for the sake of entertainment it should be mentioned that both of these riders are exemplary as their horses have been in great shape without any injuries or such.

Pace rider:
In this case I think it is Sigurbjörn. Although I am very favorable to Daníel Ingi I would bet on Sigurbjörn for this title. So far there is nobody as good as Diddi when it comes to pace.

Breeding horse rider:
I have to be consistent and therefore I will not choose anyone as a breeding horse rider. I do not think it is logical to award a breeding horse rider, they are just doing their job and it is the horses who determine the success.

Most promising rider:
Perhaps this is the most difficult class, and all of these kids are extremely promising. Ásmundur Ernir has been very successful this year, second at Landsmót and did great at the Íslandsmót tournament. Flosi had been doing a great job and is a very promising horseman, but still I think it is time for Arnar Bjarki to receive the title. He has been doing great this summer, he has put a great effort and work into this and shown great diligence.

Rider of the year: For the most part, Agnar Snorri is abroad so that we do not have a great comparison with the Icelandic competitors. I would bet on Sigurður as the rider of the year and he is involved in the whole package and has received great achievements both as regards competitions and horse breeding shows.

Gunnar Arnarson, horse breeder in Auðsholtshjáleiga

Sports rider: I have not done an in-depth research on this but I think that Jakob and Agnar are most likely to receive the title and behind them is Árni Björn. This is a tough fight but I think that Jakob and Agnar have the greatest coverage.

Gæðinga rider: I think it is Einar Öder who totally has this title. He has shown exemplary horse riding in his field.

Pace rider: It will be Sigurbjörn Bárðarson but I think he and Einar are equally safe. Both of them have been exemplary and shown gentlemanly conduct and I praise them a lot because they deserve that.

Breeding horse rider: Gísli Gíslason will receive that title. He is a superior rider, he trains his horses from the beginning and does this with great fairness and manages to mix in this traditional Icelandic style with the classical horse riding. Gísli demonstrates a great width in his horses which he has trained himself and does in a very interesting and enjoyable manner.

The most promising rider: It is hard to discriminate here because all of those kids are great riders and the future is theirs. But if I have to choose one over the other I think it is Kári who is has the most probable one but also I think that Arnar Bjarki and Ásmundur are likely.

Rider of the year: This will be Guðmundur Björgvinsson because his achievements in all areas in horsemanship are fantastic. He has made great achievements whether it is gæðinga competition, sports competition or pace. As far as I am concerned he is far above all other riders in this respect.
